012 Living the Life You Were Born to Live: Are You Chasing the Five C’s or Pursuing the Five A’s?

I googled the Five C’s ’cos I had forgotten what the fifth one was.

Interesting: top Google results were all about Singapore.

The Five Cs = Cash, Car, Credit Card, Condominium, aaah sooo that fifth C is "Country Club".

I know most Singaporeans can rattle off the list by heart yet it hadn't occurred to me that this is a uniquely Singaporean concept.

Next, I googled the Five A’s ’cos I had forgotten what the fifth one was too (*d'oh*!).

I had seen the Five A’s once on a poster in a Buddhist centre in Singapore, and thought it was really elegantly expressed and inspiring.

Woohoo! On Google, I struck GOLD cos No. 1 on the results list was not the Five A’s but the SEVEN A’s!

Awareness
Acknowledgement
Acceptance
Appreciation
Attraction
Action
Abundance

The spiritually attuned Phil Baldey from strategicpulse.com in 100% pure New Zealand, thanks for your article!

Phil talks about the Seven A’s in a business context and gave an example of how you could work through from Awareness to Abundance when there is a personality issue of dogmatism.

I reckon the Seven A’s formula can pretty much be applied to any issue.

EUREKA! POWER FORMULA!

Why was I googling these terms in the first place?

’Cos I suddenly thought about the Five A’s and the Five C’s this morning when I was doing Exercise #2: The Job from Heaven (Or Hell!) from the book  ‘I Could Do Anything If I Only Knew What It Was: How to Discover What You Really Want and How to Get It” by Barbara Sher with Barbara Smith.

Hell, it’s hard to stop doing what everyone says you should be doing, and listen to that often ignored inner voice who desperately wants to tell you what she wants to do. Yet once you start honouring your inner wisdom, wonderful things start to happen.

So Why was I reading that particular book?

’Cos it fell into my attention zone at precisely the right time (yeah! demonstrating another wise Buddhist idea “when the student is ready, the teacher appears”) when I put out this question last week, “If we indeed UNCOVER our life purpose instead of CREATE it (thanks Croz!), how do you uncover your purpose in the first place?”

Now I have the Seven A’s, I had a little fun unpacking it for myself.

To have abundance, take action,
To take action, activate attraction,
To activate attraction, have appreciation,
To have appreciation, exercise acceptance,
To exercise acceptance, give acknowledgement,
To give acknowledgement, start with awareness.

The single thing all wildly successful people have in common is Awareness.
That’s where it all starts, baby.

To Have
Awareness
Acknowledgement
Acceptance
Appreciation
Attraction
Action
Abundance

Be
Aware
Acknowledging
Accepting
Appreciative
Attractive
Active
Abundant

Didnt’t need more words at this point to explain the Seven A’s.

Just turning them over in my mind does the trick of revealing associations and interpretations meaningful to me. Try it for yourself and see how you go :) xo

In my case, it was realising that what I truly want out of life isn’t exactly the same as what others and society say I should want to be considered successful AND starting to feel that it is OK, that I will be OK if I design my future inside out. Hell, I’ll be more than OK! :D

There is a degree of audacity in pursuing what you want out of life inside out. Plus faith and a whole lot of satisfaction, fun and adventure. Even if you start out with absolutely none of the above, you’d be pleasantly surprised what sorta muscles you could develop in these areas if you just keep going. I still pinch myself sometimes when I realise what is happening.

And you don’t just jump from living a life you don’t want to living the life you want. I am blessed that I am already living the life I want to a certain degree cos I started this journey some time ago.

And while this blog stops here, the personal evolution doesn’t .  Here’s a BIG HUG and thanks for reading. Time to get the boys and go snorkeling!
